The network was built in stage 5 of a Cohesion Fund project, which also covered Berģi and Imanta. An existing house has no duty to connect, and the municipality pays no co-financing for a water connection. That is why we help you compare the two routes: your own borehole or spike well with a pump and filter, or city water, and then we do whichever of our jobs is needed.
What stage 5 changed in Beberbeķi
The contract for the project “Water management development in Riga, stage 5” was signed on 1 August 2018. In Berģi, Imanta and Beberbeķi together, 24.73 km of new water mains, 34.59 km of sewer network and 18 sewage pumping stations were built. Rīgas ūdens publishes a list of Beberbeķi streets and a map showing which streets the network covers.
The Rīgas ūdens 2025 report does not list Beberbeķi among the neighbourhoods where services are unavailable or only partly available. That does not mean every house is already connected: in September 2026 Rīgas ūdens said that across the city more than 8,000 residents had still not connected to the public networks. To check whether there is a branch connection at your boundary, use the Rīgas ūdens “Service availability” form.

Connect or stay with your own source
| Criterion | Connection to the Rīgas ūdens network | Your own borehole or spike well |
|---|---|---|
| First step | Technical conditions: free of charge, within 11 working days | The spot, access for machinery, the depth of the neighbours' sources |
| Investment | Design and the branch pipe across the plot at your expense | Spike well from €350, borehole from €65/m, pump and filter separate |
| Co-financing | None for a water connection in Riga | None |
| Monthly costs | Metered water, €1.41/m³ excluding VAT (September 2026) | Electricity for the pump, filter maintenance |
| Quality | The water company is responsible | You are responsible: a test and, if needed, treatment |
If your existing source gives enough water and the test is good, there is no reason to rush. If the well runs dry in summer, the spike well clogs or the water has a lot of iron, connecting is often the simplest solution, because the cost of a new borehole and treatment unit can exceed the cost of the branch pipe. We compare both options for your address.

The €1,800 support applies only to sewerage
In Beberbeķi you often hear about €1,800 of support for a connection. Riga City Council binding regulations RD-25-22-sn provide this sum (or 100% for certain groups of residents) only for building a sewer connection in the stage 5 and stage 6 areas, if it is built by 31.12.2026 and the application is submitted by 01.04.2027. Rīgas ūdens puts it plainly: “No co-financing is provided for water supply system connections.” If you plan both connections at once, count on paying the water main part in full.

If you connect: what to do with the old well or borehole
- Keep it for the garden: the old source can be used for watering, but only as a completely separate system. Riga's binding regulations No. 17 forbid joining the network of a borehole or other local source to the water main, including through the house's internal system.
- Put it in order: if the garden spike well has clogged, it can be flushed or its filter replaced: spike well cleaning. We price it after hearing the situation.
- Decommission it: the rules require a borehole you will no longer use to be mothballed or decommissioned, and a report is drawn up on the decommissioning. An unplugged borehole is a path by which surface water can reach the deeper aquifer: borehole decommissioning.

If you stay with your own source at the forest edge
The street grid in Beberbeķi is sparser, and some houses stand among the pines. A drilling rig needs a firm access road up to the drilling spot, so in your request describe whether the plot can be driven onto after rain too. A spike well can be installed with lighter equipment, but it only works if the water level is no deeper than 7–8 m from the pump.
For an existing source, the pump and the water quality matter most. If the pump switches on often or the pressure drops, we check the pressure tank and the pressure switch: water pumps. If you drink the water, a full test from €95 shows whether you need water treatment.
On the Mārupe side: a different company and different rules
Beberbeķi borders Mārupe municipality, and neighbouring properties may be in a different municipality. In Mārupe municipality water is supplied by SIA Mārupes komunālie pakalpojumi, and there a water connection is co-financed: €30/m, up to €1,500 (binding regulations No. 16/2025). On the Riga side there is no such support for water. The cadastre data show which municipality your land is in.

A new house by the new network
For a new build the situation differs from an existing house. Riga's binding regulations No. 17 provide that a new building that uses water must be connected to the public system if it is available and the branch connection has been built up to the plot boundary. Then your own borehole is not an alternative for drinking water, but a garden spike well is possible as a separate system. How to plan water for a new house: water supply for a new house.
